Participation Incentive

Q 1. What is the Participation Incentive and how can I get it?
VIPKid wants to reward teachers for showing up to class. You will receive a $1 Participation Incentive for each finished class with the following finish types:
  • As Scheduled
  • Student IT Problem
  • Student No Show
  • System Problem
If you’re unable to attend class, you will have money deducted from your Participation Incentive depending on the finish type:
Q 2. When will I receive the Participation Incentive?
Participation incentives will be calculated on a monthly basis, and will be included in the payment transfer that covers the last day of the month.
Q 3. When will I see the Participation Incentive appear in the Payment section of the Teacher Portal?
Participation Incentives appear in the Teacher Portal 24 hours after the class’ scheduled finish time.

Finished Class Incentive

Q 4. What is the Finished Class Incentive and how can I receive it?
VIPKid wants to reward you not only for showing up to class, but for finishing it as well.
Teachers will receive the Finished Class Incentive for all classes with the following finish types:
  • As Scheduled
  • Student IT Problem
  • Student No Show
  • System Problem
Please note that if you don’t submit Class Feedback or a Unit Assessment Report within 24 hours of the class’ scheduled finish time, it will not be counted as a finished class for this incentive.
Q 5. How much is the Finished Class Incentive?
The amount of the Finished Class Incentive depends on the number of classes you finished within a month. Refer to the table below for more details.

Referral Incentive

Q 6. How much is the referral incentive?
To learn more about our referral incentives, go to the Teacher Portal and click on the “Refer a Friend” button to access the Referral Center.

Short Notice Incentive

Q 7. What is a Short Notice Incentive, and how can I get it?
Sometimes parents want to book a class within the next 24 hours. If you allow a particular slot to be booked within 24 hours of the class’ scheduled start time by ticking the Short Notice box for an individual slot on the Teacher Portal or in the VIPKid Teach mobile app, you can receive a $2 Short Notice incentive for that class taught.

The Short Notice Incentive is only applicable when open, unbooked slots are booked and can only be applied to the same time slot once. If a particular time slot of yours was booked within 24 hours of the class’ scheduled start time, and due to a Student No Show, VIPKid decides to substitute an alternative student for that time slot, you will not receive an extra $2 Short Notice incentive.

New Sign Up Incentive

Q 8. What is the New Sign Up Incentive, and how do I get it?
If a student purchases the corresponding course after having you as the student's most recent Trial teacher for that specific course, you will receive an extra $5 New Sign Up Incentive.
To clarify, if after teaching a Major Course trial, a student signs up for Major Courses, you will receive an extra $5 New Sign Up Incentive. If after teaching a Starlight trial, a student signs up for the Starlight Courses, you will receive an extra $5 New Sign Up Incentive.
If a student purchases an unrelated course offering, teachers are not eligible for the New Sign Up Incentive.
The New Sign Up Incentive doesn't apply if your contract has expired or was terminated at the time that a student signs up.
Q 9. What if a student enrolls in a course after taking multiple Trials?
If a student enrolls with VIPKid after taking multiple Trials, only the student's most recent trial teacher will receive the New Sign Up Incentive.
If a student purchases an unrelated course offering, teachers are not eligible for the New Sign Up Incentive.
Q 10. How will I know which of my Trial students have signed up for VIPKid?
If a student signs up for VIPKid after the student's Trial, there will be a "New VIPKid" tag beside the student's name in the All Classes section of the Teacher Portal.
Q 11. Why didn’t I receive a New Sign Up Incentive after a student had my Trial?
The student might have already signed up for VIPKid before the Trial, or signed up after a Trial with another teacher. If a student signs up for VIPKid 6 months or later after the student's Trial, you will not receive the New Sign Up Incentive.
Additionally, the student may have purchased an unrelated course offering than the type of course that you taught.

Base Rate Adjustment Procedure

Q 12. What is a Base Rate Adjustment?
Upon every second contract renewal with VIPKid, you may be eligible to have your Base Rate adjusted by $0.50 per class, up to a maximum Base Rate of $10.00 per class.
Q 13. When can I apply for a Base Rate Adjustment?
You don’t need to apply directly. If you qualify for a Base Rate Adjustment, at the end of every second contract with VIPKid, you will be offered a new contract with an adjusted Base Rate.
Q 14. Are the Base Rate Adjustment guidelines subject to change?
If the Base Rate Adjustment guidelines will be changed, VIPKid will notify you two months in advance.
Q 15. How is eligibility for a Base Rate Adjustment determined?
Eligibility for a Base Rate Adjustment is calculated using data from 5 indicators during your last 12 months with VIPKid. If signing your third contract less than 12 months after signing your first contract, your eligibility will be calculated based on data from the date you signed your first contract.
If your current Base Rate is less than or equal to $8.00, you must accumulate 10 points from the chart below.
If your current Base Rate is more than $8.00, you must accumulate 12 points from the chart below.
