Finished Class Incentive

Q 1. What is the Finished Class Incentive?
The Finished Class Incentive is an extra incentive on top of your class base pay to reward teachers for teaching more classes. The more cumulative classes you've taught and the more classes you finish each month, the more you can earn!
Q 2. How does the Finished Class Incentive work?
The more classes you finish within a month, the higher the per-class incentive will be. The first 20 classes you finish within one month will accrue $0.80 per class. The 21st to 40th qualifying classes will accrue a higher per-class incentive amount depending on which tier you fall under. See the columns under “Extra incentive per class” in the table below for more details.
Q 3. What is a Finished Class Tier, and how does my Finished Class Tier affect me?
You will be assigned a Finished Class Tier depending on how many qualifying classes you’ve finished since joining VIPKid. As you finish more classes within a month, each class will accrue progressively higher incentives per class.

Tiers are calculated on the 4th day of each month based on classes finished by the end of the last day of the previous month (Beijing Time). If you finish enough classes to move into a new Finished Class Tier, your payment will be calculated according to the higher Tier the next month. See the table below for more details.
This incentive payment program structure is currently in the initial stages, and is being slowly rolled out to teachers according to a planned schedule. VIPKID reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to revise, modify, or reduce the incentive amounts and/or the details of this incentive program.
Q 4. How can I track my Finished Class Tier progression?
You can refer to the table in your Teacher Portal to see your progression through the Finished Class Tiers. Please note that the table is updated on the 4th day of each month according to how many classes you completed by the last day of the previous month (Beijing Time).
Q 5. What is a qualifying finished class?
A qualifying finished class must:
Not be a mock class or open class or one to many class
Have one of the following finish types. (1)
-As Scheduled
-Student No Show
-Student IT Problem
-System Problem
Have Class Feedback or Unit Assessment report (2) submitted within 24 hours of the class’ scheduled finish time
50-minute classes are regarded as two finished classes for the purpose of calculating your tier.
(1): In cases where finish types are changed, only the final finish type will be considered. If there is a change of finish type, you will be given the difference of payment according to your Finished Class Tier during the month in which the payment was changed. Your Finished Class Tier cannot be downgraded due to a change of Finish Type, only upgraded.
(2): For classes finished As Scheduled, Class Feedback and Unit Assessments must be submitted within 12 hours to be eligible for full pay, and 24 hours to be counted as a finished class when calculating this incentive payment.
If you’re unable to attend class, you will have money deducted from your Finish Class Incentive depending on the finish type:
Q 6. Will the extra incentive amounts by tier change?
This incentive payment program structure is currently in the initial stages, and is being slowly rolled out to teachers according to a planned schedule. VIPKID reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to revise, modify, or reduce the incentive amounts and/or the details of this incentive program.
Q 7. How are the payments calculated?
Here’s an example. Let’s take a look at Teacher Sally’s September payment. Her base pay is $7.50 per class, and as of September 3 she has finished 800 classes at VIPKid, putting her in Finished Class Tier 5. In September she finished 118 classes. Refer to the table on the bottom to see her payment.
Her final payment will be $1,072.60.
Q 8. Why can’t I get a base payment adjustment?
Under the New Service Fee Structure, teachers will receive payment incentives corresponding to the number of classes taught, both cumulative and monthly. Therefore, the more cumulative classes a teacher has completed, and the more classes a teacher finishes each month, the more a teacher can earn.
As a result, teachers under the New Service Fee Structure are not eligible for a base pay adjustment. We believe that this new payment structure is the best way to recognize teachers for their work.

Referral Incentive

Q 9. How much is the referral incentive?
To learn more about our referral incentives, go to the Teacher Portal and click on the “Refer a Friend” button to access the Referral Center.

Short Notice Incentive

Q 10. What is a Short Notice Incentive, and how can I get it?
Sometimes parents want to book a class within the next 24 hours. If you allow a particular slot to be booked within 24 hours of the class’ scheduled start time by ticking the Short Notice box for an individual slot on the Teacher Portal or in the VIPKid Teach mobile app, you can receive a $2 Short Notice incentive for that class taught.

The Short Notice Incentive is only applicable when open, unbooked slots are booked and can only be applied to the same time slot once. If a particular time slot of yours was booked within 24 hours of the class’ scheduled start time, and due to a Student No Show, VIPKid decides to substitute an alternative student for that time slot, you will not receive an extra $2 Short Notice incentive.

New Sign Up Incentive

Q 11. What is the New Sign Up Incentive, and how do I get it?
If a student purchases the corresponding course after having you as the student's most recent Trial teacher for that specific course, you will receive an extra $5 New Sign Up Incentive.
To clarify, if after teaching a Major Course trial, a student signs up for Major Courses, you will receive an extra $5 New Sign Up Incentive. If after teaching a Starlight trial, a student signs up for the Starlight Courses, you will receive an extra $5 New Sign Up Incentive.
If a student purchases an unrelated course offering, teachers are not eligible for the New Sign Up Incentive.
The New Sign Up Incentive doesn't apply if your contract has expired or was terminated at the time that a student signs up.
Q 12. What if a student enrolls in a course after taking multiple Trials?
If a student enrolls with VIPKid after taking multiple Trials, only the student's most recent trial teacher will receive the New Sign Up Incentive.
If a student purchases an unrelated course offering, teachers are not eligible for the New Sign Up Incentive.
Q 13. How will I know which of my Trial students have signed up for VIPKid?
If a student signs up for VIPKid after the student's Trial, there will be a "New VIPKid" tag beside the student's name in the All Classes section of the Teacher Portal.
Q 14. Why didn’t I receive a New Sign Up Incentive after a student had my Trial?
The student might have already signed up for VIPKid before the Trial, or signed up after a Trial with another teacher. If a student signs up for VIPKid 6 months or later after the student's Trial, you will not receive the New Sign Up Incentive.
Additionally, the student may have purchased an unrelated course offering than the type of course that you taught.
